DOWNTOWN. Somewhere between kitschy and cool, you’ll find this former dive bar, now a downtown hipster hangout. Large chandeliers, gopher-shaped lamps, and vintage Atari games (think Centipede and Ms. Pac-Man) demonstrate that the bar doesn’t take itself too seriously, and the mixed crowd of locals couldn’t be happier. The tiny patio is an adequate place for a smoke break, but most patrons stay indoors, listening to an eclectic mix of tunes on the jukebox. Boasting one of the city’s oldest liquor licenses, The Golden Gopher also has a small takeaway liquor store.
